Hygiene and dehumidifying supplies delivered to Seoul Station jjokbangchon; recovery goods to follow in Incheon and Gwangju
JTI Korea announced Monday it will carry out a monsoon damage prevention support project targeting flood-prone communities across the country ahead of the summer rainy season.
At a supply handover ceremony held at its headquarters on June 11, the company delivered hygiene products, dehumidifying supplies and daily necessities to the Seoul Station Jjokbangchon Counseling Center. The items will be stocked at the "Warmth Warehouse" inside the Seoul Station jjokbangchon — a neighborhood of tiny, low-cost rooms — so residents can access them as needed.
JTI Korea plans to provide additional flood prevention and recovery supplies — including flood bags, large electric fans and hoses — to flood-prone residential areas in Incheon and Gwangju by the end of June, in partnership with the nonprofit Happy People.
"Residents of the jjokbangchon face a range of difficulties every monsoon season — leaks, sanitation problems and safety hazards — due to the nature of their living conditions," said Yoo Ho-yeon, director of the Seoul Station Jjokbangchon Counseling Center. "We expect this support to make a real difference to their living environment during the rainy season."
JTI Korea has maintained its relationship with the Seoul Station Jjokbangchon Counseling Center since first partnering with the organization five years ago.
