Tailored welfare support brought directly to vulnerable households
The Damyang-gun Community Social Security Council, co-chaired by Kim Gwang-hun, announced Monday that it had carried out its "Ieobom (Ear, Notice, Connect)" project in the Sinhak-ri and Daechu-ri areas of Bongsan-myeon, reaching out directly to vulnerable households in the community.
Council members from both the Damyang-gun and Bongsan-myeon community social security bodies, along with relevant civil servants, participated in the initiative. Teams visited 10 households identified in advance — six in Sinhak-ri and four in Daechu-ri — to deliver tailored welfare services.
Participants were divided into three units: a counseling team, a safety monitoring team and a dietary inspection team. Together they distributed lifestyle safety kits, assessed and helped improve residential safety conditions, checked on dietary habits and health, surveyed welfare needs and connected residents with appropriate services.
The Ieobom project is funded by donations collected through the 2025 Love-Sharing Store campaign. Built around the three core values of listening (Ear), observing (Notice) and connecting (Connect), it checks on residents' well-being, identifies unmet welfare needs and links them to the support they require.
"The Ieobom project is a community-centered welfare safety net that personally checks on neighbors and connects them with the resources they need," co-chair Kim said. "We will continue to work through public-private cooperation to identify those falling through the cracks and sustain support for vulnerable groups."
