Hwang Yi-ju launches transition committee ahead of taking office as Uljin-gun chief

Hwang Yi-ju, the incoming chief of Uljin-gun, officially launched a transition committee Monday ahead of the ninth civil administration's inauguration in July.

The committee, led by Chairman Ko Jae-ok, comprises 12 members and six advisory members. They will focus on laying the legal and institutional groundwork to fulfill campaign pledges and ensure continuity in county governance.

The committee draws broad representation, including specialists from various fields as well as figures from diverse segments of society.

Son Seung-won, born in 1999, joined as the youngest member representing youth. Kim Bok-ja, a former Democratic Party of Korea candidate in the local elections, and Jeong An-il, a former independent candidate who also ran in the county assembly race, were also appointed as members.

The committee will operate through June 26, focusing on the transition process — including departmental briefings, reviews of key pending issues, setting the direction for county administration and preparations for the inauguration ceremony.

"We will make every preparation to ensure the incoming chief's campaign pledges are smoothly handed over to the county's official administrative structure, so that key pledges affecting residents' livelihoods can be carried out without delay from the moment the new administration officially launches on July 1," a transition committee official said.
