Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI model, has selected Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs as underwriters for its planned stock market listing.
Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing anonymous sources, that Anthropic is considering an initial public offering as early as October and recently filed a confidential listing application. The sources said additional banks could be added as underwriters, with JPMorgan already involved and Citigroup among those being discussed.
Anthropic was recently valued at $965 billion (1,480 trillion won), surpassing rival OpenAI. OpenAI is also pursuing a listing this year but has yet to file a prospectus or other documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
SpaceX, the space company led by Elon Musk, is set to list on the Nasdaq on June 12. SpaceX competes with Anthropic for attention in the IPO market while also serving as one of Anthropic's suppliers. According to SpaceX's IPO filing, the company has a contract to provide Anthropic with AI computing capacity — including the use of approximately 325,000 Nvidia chips — at a cost of $1.25 billion (1.9 trillion won) per month. The agreement runs through May 2029 and includes a provision allowing either party to terminate it with 90 days' notice after an initial three-month period.
