South Jeolla Province, the South Jeolla Creative Economy Innovation Center and Tridge collaborate to support small and medium-sized enterprise exports
Matna Food Co., backed by trade support from the South Jeolla Creative Economy Innovation Center, has secured a supply deal with Mega Market, a warehouse-style hypermarket chain in Vietnam, and held its first export loading ceremony.
Known for its "Haejomyeongga" brand, Matna Food is a 35-year-old company based in South Jeolla Province — the country's largest production hub for raw seaweed — and produces seasoned seaweed, seaweed snacks and organic dolkim jaban. The company has previously received an export award for $7 million in overseas sales.
The South Jeolla Creative Economy Innovation Center, South Jeolla Province and Matna Food partnered with Tridge Co. through the "2026 Overseas Online Platform Entry and Promotion Support Project" to carry out the Vietnam export shipment. The consignment covers three products — dosirak seaweed, seaweed jaban and kimbap seaweed — totaling 1,050 boxes valued at 43 million won (about $28,500).
The exported products will be sold as private-label goods at hypermarkets in Vietnam.
The deal is notable as a case in which the entire process — from identifying overseas buyers and conducting export consultations to closing the transaction and securing placement in local retail channels — was carried out through Tridge, a global business-to-business platform company, resulting in a completed export.
Tridge is a platform that connects buyers in more than 150 countries with food and agricultural product supply chains worldwide, offering data-driven market analysis and buyer-matching services to help South Korean food companies expand into overseas markets.
Mega Market operates 21 wholesale centers and eight logistics hubs across Vietnam, supplying products to hotels, restaurants, retailers and other buyers through a nationwide distribution network.
Min Sun-hee, South Jeolla Province's international cooperation support officer, said the deal is expected to help South Jeolla food products — sourced from the country's largest agricultural and fisheries production region — gain a stronger foothold in Southeast Asian markets and secure local distribution channels. "We will work harder to diversify export markets for South Jeolla's agricultural and fisheries food products and establish stable overseas sales channels," she said.
