Daegu Catholic University hosts 3rd North Gyeongsang youth startup hackathon

Daegu Catholic University hosted the second round of the 3rd North Gyeongsang Province Startup Club Youth Entrepreneurship Hackathon from June 12 to 13, aiming to strengthen entrepreneurial skills and problem-solving abilities among young people in the region.

The competition was organized as part of the "North Gyeongsang Regional Startup Experience Center" project, overseen by the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education Research Institute.

Following the first round held in May, Yeungnam University joined as a co-supporting institution for this second round, expanding the cooperative framework between regional universities.

A total of 84 students from elementary, middle and high school startup clubs across North Gyeongsang Province took part, along with 22 supervising teachers. Working in teams, students identified local community issues, developed solutions, refined their ideas and designed business models.

Keum Yong-pil, head of the entrepreneurship and business management department at Daegu Catholic University, said the competition gave students a meaningful educational opportunity to build startup capabilities through inter-university collaboration. "We will continue to operate diverse entrepreneurship education programs in partnership with local communities to help spread the entrepreneurial spirit among young people," he said.
