The Chilgok-gun Council in North Gyeongsang Province held an orientation session for members elected in the 9th nationwide simultaneous local elections, the council announced Sunday.
The session was organized to help newly elected members better understand legislative activities and to ensure the smooth launch of the 10th Chilgok-gun Council, set to be inaugurated July 1.
The event began with the presentation of council member badges — a symbol of each member's responsibilities and role — followed by a general briefing on council operations and an introductory meeting between incoming members-elect and administrative staff.
Participants also toured the main chamber and standing committee rooms and took part in a CPX for the 318th extraordinary session (July 1–3) and the 10th council's inauguration ceremony, both scheduled immediately after the new council opens.
Council Speaker Lee Sang-seung congratulated the members-elect on their victories in the 9th local elections and stressed the importance of communication and cooperation among members in meeting the expectations and trust of residents.
