LFP-based grid ESS, next-gen UPS among highlights
Local production capacity to address European battery regulations
Company vows to deliver differentiated customer value in Europe
LG Energy Solution announced Monday that it will participate in ees Europe 2026, a battery and energy storage system (ESS) exhibition held at Messe München in Munich, Germany, from Tuesday through Thursday. Under the theme "Powering the Future of AI," the company plans to highlight its competitiveness in power infrastructure — a critical foundation for AI industry growth.
At the exhibition, LG Energy Solution will present a customized integrated solution for AI data centers, alongside its European local production capabilities and framework for complying with European battery regulations. Battery integrated solutions designed to meet rising AI data center power demand will take center stage. The company will unveil a product portfolio spanning battery energy storage systems (BESS) for power grids, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and battery backup units (BBU).
Among the grid ESS products on display will be the "JF2S DC LINK 5.0," which uses European-made lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells. The system is equipped with ESS-dedicated LFP cells (JF2S) produced at the company's factory in Wrocław, Poland, and covers the entire process — from battery production to system supply — locally. It also incorporates security-certified electrical and electronic components to meet the latest cybersecurity regulations, reinforcing the security of data center power infrastructure.
LG Energy Solution will also unveil the next-generation LFP-based "JP6 UPS Rack" system and the "next-generation 2170 BBU." Through these products, the company aims to demonstrate its battery solution capabilities for data centers, enabling stable power supply even in emergencies.
The company will also emphasize its ability to navigate European battery regulations. Through kiosks on the exhibition floor, it will introduce the operational status of its "Battery Passport" system, which digitally manages battery lifecycle information. Europe has been tightening requirements for supply chain transparency and local production through measures including the EU Battery Regulation (EUBR) and the Industrial Acceleration Act (IAA). LG Energy Solution plans to get ahead of European regulations and strengthen its market competitiveness by leveraging its Battery Passport compliance framework and its production base in Poland.
"This exhibition will be an opportunity to demonstrate LG Energy Solution's capabilities as it establishes itself as a key partner in AI data center power infrastructure," a company official said. "We will continue to create differentiated customer value in the European market, backed by our solid local production capabilities and advanced regulatory compliance."
Meanwhile, LG Energy Solution's lithium-ion ESS shipments surged 253 percent year-on-year in the first quarter, according to SNE Research, an energy-focused market research firm. Its market share also roughly doubled, rising from 1.4 percent in the first quarter of last year to 2.7 percent in the first quarter of this year.
The company has been rapidly converting electric vehicle battery production lines to ESS to meet demand in non-Chinese markets. European shipments in the first quarter reached 29.5 gigawatt-hours, up 107 percent from the same period a year earlier.
