GS Caltex hosts youth soccer friendly linking multicultural, community programs

GS Caltex announced Monday that it held its "Dream Energy Day" event Sunday at Kixx Park in the Park Ji-sung Soccer Center in Suwon.

The event marked the first joint exchange match between the "FC Seoul Multicultural Soccer School" and the "Park Ji-sung Soccer Center Soccer School," two programs GS Caltex has each sponsored for more than a decade.

Children from multicultural families and those from the general community played together on the same pitch, while a range of family participation programs gave young players and their parents the chance to join in.

The FC Seoul Multicultural Soccer School is a corporate social responsibility program that helps children from multicultural families adapt to Korean society through soccer. FC Seoul and the Seoul Metropolitan Government have run it annually since 2013. GS Caltex has been the main sponsor of the Park Ji-sung Soccer Center since signing a sponsorship agreement in November 2009.

Meanwhile, GS Caltex has been expanding its support for multicultural talent development across all age groups. Since 2023, the company has run a scholarship program for high-achieving multicultural students in elementary, middle and high school in partnership with the Community Chest of Korea and the Pearl S. Buck Foundation. Since last year, it has also operated a science talent development camp for multicultural youth with KAIST.

"We will continue to support the development of talent from multicultural backgrounds, including through sports-based social contribution activities," a GS Caltex official said.
