Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to provide 100 million won ($65,100) in government funding; programs to target all generations

The Whale Culture Foundation, a public institution funded by Ulsan's Nam-gu district, announced Monday that it has been selected for the "2026 Humanities for All" program organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service.
Introduced for the first time this year, the "2026 Humanities for All" project encourages diverse social and cultural facilities within a region to collaborate in offering community-based humanities programs.
With the selection, the foundation will receive 100 million won ($65,100) in government funding and plans to partner with local arts and culture education organizations from this month through the end of the year to offer citizens a range of humanities programs.
The foundation also plans to develop tailored programs spanning all generations — children, teenagers, middle-aged adults and seniors — to make humanities more accessible to the public.
"We will use this selection as an opportunity to join hands with a wide range of local cultural and arts education institutions and build a citizen-centered humanities ecosystem," a foundation official said.
