North Gyeongsang Province holds policy forum with newly elected mayors and county chiefs

North Gyeongsang Province held a policy forum Sunday with mayors and county chiefs elected in the ninth local elections, gathering the incoming leaders at Hwaebaekdang Hall in the provincial government building in Andong.

The event included a meet-and-greet between the governor and the elected officials, a presentation on the province's key policy directions for the incoming term, and introductions and words of encouragement for each incoming leader.

Participants shared the provincial vision and policy roadmap for the new term, centered on the slogan "A New Republic of Korea, Powered by North Gyeongsang." The core agenda included four major transformations covering industry, space, community and livelihoods, along with the administrative integration of Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province.

The elected officials presented their signature campaign pledges and reaffirmed their commitment to working alongside the province toward North Gyeongsang's future.

In his opening remarks, North Gyeongsang Governor Lee Cheol-woo said the province's moment was coming. "By 2030, the era of North Gyeongsang will arrive," he said. "If the past eight years were about planting seeds of change, now is the time to complete the great transformation and re-emerge as the center of the Republic of Korea."

He urged the incoming leaders to stay focused on the province's development now that the election was over. "The election is finished — if the province and its cities and counties run in the same direction with eyes fixed only on North Gyeongsang's growth, the region will surely change," Lee said. "Let us build a North Gyeongsang together where every area's unique strengths are realized and no community is left behind."
