Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs approves master plan; 6 billion won ($4.3 million) to be invested in improving living conditions
Haenam-gun's rural space improvement project in the Eoran district of Songji-myeon has received master plan approval from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, clearing the way for full implementation.
The rural space improvement project aims to restore the character of rural villages by supporting the demolition of facilities that cause serious environmental damage — including odor, noise, and wastewater — and by improving living conditions to promote spatial regeneration and more effective land use.
With the master plan approved, Haenam-gun will invest a total of 6 billion won ($4.3 million) in the Eoran village area of Songji-myeon through 2028 to demolish six hazardous facilities, including abandoned warehouses and factories. The county plans to develop shared community facilities on the cleared sites to improve living conditions and create a more pleasant rural environment.
Clearing the hazardous facilities that residents had long sought to remove is expected to eliminate safety risks and visual blights, improve the village's overall image and bring new energy to the community.
"We plan to identify additional hazardous facilities and landscape-degrading elements in towns and villages, address facilities that threaten residents' safety, and continue restructuring rural spaces," a county official said.
Haenam-gun is currently pursuing rural space improvement projects across three districts: the Wolsong district in Hyeonsan-myeon, the Geumho district in Sani-myeon, and the Eoran district in Songji-myeon.
