A woman in her 40s was arrested Tuesday after spitting on a police officer and hurling abuse at him during a protest blocking access to a ballot-counting site at the handball gymnasium in Seoul's Olympic Park.
The Songpa Police Station in Seoul said it arrested the woman, identified only by her surname initial A, on charges of obstruction of official duties at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
A is accused of spitting on and verbally abusing an officer on duty at the handball gymnasium that day.
She also allegedly photographed officers' faces without permission and directed abusive language at their families.
Police are investigating the full circumstances of the incident.
