The Daegu Happiness Foundation announced Wednesday it will hold the "2026 Future Preparedness Academy" to help citizens prepare for a rapidly changing society and promote lifelong learning.
The academy was designed to help residents better understand emerging trends such as digital transformation and AI, and to guide them in planning a successful second chapter of life, including financial and career strategies.
Running through November, the series will consist of five sessions held across different districts and counties in Daegu in partnership with local governments to improve accessibility for residents.
Each session will feature leading experts in their respective fields, who will analyze key competencies for the future and offer concrete guidance.
The opening lecture takes place Thursday at Beomeo Library in Suseong-gu, where author Ko Myeong-hwan will speak on the theme "Life design lessons found at death's door," sharing strategies for navigating the future.
Subsequent sessions will cover a range of topics: Hong Jeong-gi, dean of the Graduate School of Sports Medicine at CHA University of Medicine, will address balanced health management; Oh Geon-yeong, a team leader at Shinhan Bank's WM Group, will discuss economic paradigms; Kim Gyeong-pil, chief executive of Korea Money Training Lab, will focus on retirement planning; and Kim Gyeong-il, a professor at Ajou University, will offer strategies for navigating the era of digital transformation.
Residents wishing to participate can register online through the Daegu Lifelong Learning Platform after creating an account, or apply by phone.
