Gyeongju City Council wraps up 4-year term

The Gyeongju City Council in North Gyeongsang Province held the second plenary session of its 297th extraordinary session Wednesday, concluding an eight-day legislative schedule.

Before the plenary session, lawmaker Lee Cheol-woo delivered a five-minute floor speech on the theme of "Reflections on the 9th Council's legislative activities and the path forward for Gyeongju City Council."

The council reviewed 22 agenda items during the session, including 11 ordinance bills, three consent motions, one opinion-hearing proposal and five amendments to public property management plans. All items were passed or adopted as originally submitted.

Council Speaker Lee Dong-hyeop said he hopes "the experience and achievements built up by the 9th Council will carry over to the 10th, so that Gyeongju City Council can continue to grow as a representative body trusted by its citizens."

Meanwhile, the 10th Gyeongju City Council is set to open July 6, when it will convene the 298th extraordinary session and elect its first-half leadership as its opening order of business.
