NCsoft's 'Lineage 2M' tops China App Store chart on launch day

NCsoft's mobile MMORPG Lineage 2M debuted at No. 1 on China's App Store popularity chart on its first day of official service. As users flooded in, local publisher Tencent Games expanded the server count from 12 to 36.

NCsoft said it launched the Chinese service of Lineage 2M as of 9 a.m. Wednesday. Tencent Games is handling local publishing under the Chinese title "Tiantang 2: Mengyue."

Tencent Games announced the launch through its official website that day. Lineage 2M claimed the top spot on the local App Store popularity ranking immediately after release.

The surge in users drove a rapid server expansion. Tencent Games initially launched with 12 servers before adding 24 more, bringing the total to 36.

Lineage 2M is one of NCsoft's flagship mobile MMORPGs. Ahead of the Chinese launch, NCsoft received a foreign game license from China's National Press and Publication Administration in October 2024. About 50,000 players participated in a closed beta test before the official release, and pre-registrations reached about 5 million.

NCsoft said it will provide further details on the Chinese service of Lineage 2M through Tencent Games' official website.
