National Nakdong River Biological Resources Center earns top management rating for 8th consecutive year

The National Nakdong River Biological Resources Center announced Thursday that it received the top "excellent (A)" rating in the Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy's 2025 management performance evaluation for affiliated public institutions, marking its eighth consecutive year earning the designation since 2018.

The achievement carries added weight given that the evaluation environment became significantly more rigorous this year: the number of institutions assessed more than doubled from six to 12 following the launch of the Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy, raising the bar for all participants.

Particularly notable was the center's improvement in the "management administration" category, which it lifted from a "good (B)" rating to "excellent."

Key factors cited in the evaluation included the center's expansion of a job-based compensation system for all staff, developed through close labor-management cooperation, and the commercial success of an eco-friendly pest-control agent developed using freshwater microbial patent technology licensed from the center. The agent generated about 150 million won ($108,000) in sales in its first year on the market.

"We will not rest on our current achievements, but will strengthen our management fundamentals and deliver tangible results that live up to the trust placed in us by the public and the government," center director Yong Seok-won said.
