Choi Yu-cheol to be inaugurated as Uiseong-gun county chief on Tuesday

Choi Yu-cheol, the incoming chief of Uiseong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province, will hold his inauguration ceremony at the Uiseong Culture Center at 10 a.m. Tuesday, officially launching the ninth directly elected term of the county administration, he announced Sunday.

Choi is preparing the ceremony as an open event for all county residents, with invitations extended to the entire community.

Organizers are taking care to ensure broad participation, welcoming local elders who have dedicated themselves to the county's development, veterans' families, farmers, youth, women, people with disabilities, multicultural families and representatives of civic organizations.

Choi expressed regret that executive members of the Uiseong-gun chapter of the Korea Senior Citizens Association will be unable to attend. He said he was deeply disappointed that a scheduled leadership training session for senior community leaders falls on the same day as the inauguration, preventing him from hosting the county's elders together in one place.

Before the ceremony, Choi will pay his respects at the local war memorial to honor those who gave their lives for the nation. After the inauguration, he will sign the official administrative handover documents and hold a meeting with senior civil servants to begin governing in earnest.

"The position of county chief is not one of authority but one of responsibility for the lives of residents," Choi said. "From the very first day in office, I will respond earnestly to the expectations of the people and pursue change in Uiseong — steadily and firmly — grounded in the rule of law, sound budgeting, organizational discipline and the voices from the ground."
