Outgoing Dalseo-gu mayor donates 30 million won to scholarship fund over 10-year tenure

Lee Tae-hoon, the outgoing district mayor of Dalseo-gu in Daegu, has donated a cumulative 30 million won ($19,400) to the Dalseo Talent Development Scholarship Foundation, earning a place on the foundation's "Hall of Fame" list of major donors, the district office announced Sunday.

Lee, who also serves as chairman of the foundation, contributed 200,000 won per month consistently throughout his 10-year tenure, spanning the sixth through eighth terms of local elected office.

He made an additional contribution at his farewell ceremony on Friday, pushing his cumulative total to 30 million won as a gesture of support for local youth.

Over his decade in office, Lee championed talent development and a culture of giving, guided by his belief that "education is the future." He consistently directed attention to scholarship programs aimed at helping young people in the district pursue their aspirations regardless of economic or social circumstances.

"It is especially meaningful to be able to share a little more of that spirit as I prepare to step down," Lee said. "I will continue to support the young people who will lead Dalseo-gu's future."
