Anniversary ceremony held at Mapo headquarters on Monday
Vice Chairman Cho Hyun-sang presents 'Heritage DNA' as core value
Company expands into AI, silicon anode materials business
HS Hyosung is embarking on a new phase of growth, anchored by what it calls "Heritage DNA" and a value-driven management philosophy, as the company marks 60 years since its founding and two years since its establishment as an independent entity.
The company held a ceremony at its Mapo headquarters in Seoul on Monday to reflect on the past two years and share its vision for the future. Domestic employees and staff from more than 20 overseas operations joined online, and 429 long-serving employees were recognized at the event.
The ceremony featured remarks from Chairman Kim Gyu-young, the first non-owner-family chief executive in the 60-year history of the Hyosung Group, who laid out the group's vision.
"As we mark 60 years since our founding and two years since our establishment, we must reaffirm the direction we are heading," Kim said. "We must achieve an unrivaled edge in technology, quality, service and execution — all grounded in the spirit of 'value, and together.'"
Kim said the customer must remain the starting point of everything the company does. "We must build trust that HS Hyosung is different, through a customer-centered pursuit of an unrivaled competitive edge," he said. He also said that while the market had expected the group's stabilization to take more than three years, the separation was successfully completed in just two. "It was made possible by the dedication of Vice Chairman Cho Hyun-sang, our management team and our employees," he said.
Kim identified safety, quality, adherence to principles, accountability, and mutual trust and cooperation as the foundations of that competitive edge. "An organization built on solid fundamentals does not waver," he said.
Vice Chairman Cho Hyun-sang presented "Heritage DNA" as the core value driving future growth. Before the ceremony, Cho and other executives visited the graves of HS Hyosung's founders — the late Chairman Cho Hong-je and the late Honorary Chairman Cho Suk-rai — to pay their respects and reaffirm their commitment to carrying forward the founding generation's spirit of nation-building through industry.
HS Hyosung is strengthening its existing businesses in tire cord, carbon fiber, aramid and airbag materials, while expanding into AI, digital transformation, mobility and global supply chain management. The company is also pushing ahead with silicon anode materials as its first new business since becoming independent. It recently established HS Hyosung Energy Solution Korea through a joint venture with a Belgian materials company and is preparing to break ground on a factory. The company also plans to extend its advanced materials business into defense, aviation, space and eco-friendly sectors.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, the company hosted a book concert featuring Park Chan-jong, a national team para-cyclist, and is running a pop-up exhibition at the Mapo headquarters displaying artifacts from the group's history. On Saturday, the company will hold a "Family Day" event for employees and their families, featuring a magic show and hands-on programs.
