Park Kwon-hyun was inaugurated Tuesday as the 12th chief of Cheongdo-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, in a ceremony held at the county's national sports center gymnasium with residents in attendance.
In his inaugural address, Park said he would "restart Cheongdo's engine of innovation together with residents and achieve a brilliant leap forward," adding that he would "open a new future for Cheongdo with the happiness of its people as the top priority."
To that end, Park outlined five governing principles: revitalizing agriculture and the local economy, rebuilding hope for the future, developing a livable cultural city, expanding welfare for all residents, and pursuing open, people-centered administration.
"The true strength of Cheongdo lies in the resilience of its people, who have carried on the spirit of the saemaul movement and the Hwarang tradition," Park said. "Together with residents, I will make Cheongdo's heart beat again and open a great new future for this county."
