Gimcheon Mayor Bae Nak-ho vows to govern by results at inauguration

Newly inaugurated Gimcheon Mayor Bae Nak-ho pledged Tuesday to lead a city government that delivers tangible results rather than showy, populist projects, telling a ceremony at City Hall that "the next four years will be a critical time that determines the next 100 years of Gimcheon."

"I will find answers on the ground, communicate constantly with residents, and carry out each campaign pledge I made during the election so that citizens can feel the change for themselves," he said.

Bae said he would keep in mind the weight of the trust citizens had placed in him. "Without losing sight of my original intentions, I will focus solely on Gimcheon's development and the happiness of its people, and build a greater Gimcheon — a Gimcheon that works harder without hesitation," he said.

In his first official engagement after taking office, Bae visited the Gimcheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he listened to business leaders' concerns and discussed ways to foster cooperation for mutual growth.
