New rapid-support unit reflects 9th elected-term campaign pledge; district to build early-stage administrative framework through education, forums and resident outreach
Jungnang-gu has established a new "Rapid Support Team" within its residential improvement division, effective Tuesday, to accelerate apartment reconstruction projects in the district — fulfilling a campaign pledge by District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi to improve residential environments and expand housing supply.
The reorganization is designed to provide systematic support to apartment complexes preparing for reconstruction from the earliest stages, in line with the Seoul Metropolitan Government's housing supply expansion policy. The district said the focus is on giving residents accurate information and strengthening administrative support throughout the project process to lay the groundwork for reconstruction.
As of 2026, 25 complexes comprising 214 buildings and 20,086 units in Jungnang-gu have reached the 30-year threshold that qualifies them for reconstruction.
Resident interest has grown particularly strong this year, as all 10 complexes in the Sinnae District 1 housing development zone have now met the reconstruction eligibility requirement.
The district plans to use the new team as a hub for delivering organized information to residents from the outset of each project, linking public administrative support to reduce confusion and help projects move forward smoothly.
To that end, the district will run a "Jungnang Reconstruction Improvement Project Education" series featuring invited experts who will explain procedures and regulations. A separate "Reconstruction Improvement Project Forum with Residents" will address individual cases and questions that are difficult to cover in formal sessions, creating a field-centered, tailored communication channel.
"Establishing the Rapid Support Team is the first concrete step toward fulfilling our 9th elected-term pledge to create better living environments," Ryu said. "We will do our utmost to communicate closely with residents from the earliest stages of reconstruction and strengthen the administrative support needed to keep projects on track."
