Key ESG achievements for 2025 disclosed
Namyang Dairy Products said Thursday it reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 13 percent and energy use by 10 percent last year compared with the previous year, disclosing the figures through its "2025 ESG Information" report.
The company, guided by its ESG Management Committee, carries out production facility operations, environmental management and energy-saving initiatives. Streamlining its production system last year cut greenhouse gas emissions by 13 percent — equivalent to 10,267 tCO₂-eq — and reduced energy consumption by 10 percent, or 198 terajoules.
Equipment upgrades and the introduction of high-efficiency devices at its factories also contributed to the emissions reductions. Waste generation fell by 10 percent, or 1,049 metric tons. The company exceeded its annual reduction targets for greenhouse gas emissions and energy use by 18 percent and 17 percent, respectively.
Namyang Dairy Products also expanded its eco-friendly policy in products and packaging. Last year, 42 major product lines — including fermented milk and coffee — earned a "Sustainability A rating" certification from the Korea Packaging Material Recycling Business Cooperative. Its bottled water brand Cheonyeonsu adopted label-free packaging.
Participation in the company's mobile eco-education program for elementary school students, running since 2022, nearly doubled last year, rising from about 1,200 to 2,300 students. The company is also continuing biodiversity conservation and stream cleanup activities near its production facilities.
Namyang Dairy Products has also stepped up support for vulnerable groups, expanding donations of customized milk and fermented milk products for infants, teenagers and elderly people living alone. It also operates "Fill Care," a comprehensive support project for youth caregivers, in partnership with World Vision. These efforts earned the company a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare at the ministry's "2025 Love and Sharing" ceremony last year.
The company also received a "Win-Win Cooperation Award" in the social contribution category at the "Consumer ESG Innovation Awards," jointly hosted by the Future Consumer Action and the Consumer Rights Forum, for expanding access to Ketonia — a liquid ketogenic diet product for pediatric epilepsy patients — to low-income patients and medical institutions.
Namyang Dairy Products is also working to strengthen ESG competitiveness among its suppliers. Last year it participated in the "2025 Food Industry ESG Joint Practice Declaration" hosted by the Korea Food Industry Association, and provided integrated ESG consulting and self-assessment programs to partner companies to help them build ESG management frameworks. The company has also deployed compliance practice officers across all business sites, including its headquarters and sales operations, to reinforce its compliance framework.
Kim Seung-eon, president and chief executive of Namyang Dairy Products, said the company would "continue to advance ESG management by reducing environmental impact through our production systems, developing eco-friendly products and establishing responsible governance."
