Actor Han Jung-su calls for elimination of far-right online community Ilbe over Baejae High School incident

Actor Han Jung-su has spoken out over the controversy surrounding Baejae High School's baseball team, calling for the complete elimination of far-right online community Ilbe (Ilgan Best).

Han posted on social media Wednesday, writing, "Let's use this opportunity to completely remove Ilbe from this land — a community that spreads a distorted sense of history, contempt and a culture of mockery to our children."

He added, "The real culprit behind the Baejae High School incident. Ilbe's foot soldiers will soon come charging in again."

The controversy stems from a game played June 29 at Mokdong Baseball Stadium between Baejae High School and Gwangju Ilgo at the 81st Cheongnyonggi National High School Baseball Championship and Weekend League Finals. During the match, some Baejae players chanted "Let's go, let's go, let's go to Starbucks" toward the opposing dugout, while one player shouted "Tank Day." The chants drew widespread criticism online and offline as mockery evoking Starbucks Korea's "May 18 Tank Day" promotional event, seen as ridiculing the pro-democracy movement and disparaging the Gwangju region.

Han posted again on social media June 30, writing, "The Baejae High School incident is not simply a problem with the children alone," and said "the Ilbe-style historical mockery and hatred that has spread widely into the daily lives of teenagers and young adults in their 20s is severely damaging this country."
