Seongbuk-gu in Seoul has published the "Seongbuk-gu Childbirth and Parenting Guide," a single-volume resource compiling all the information families need on pregnancy, childbirth and child-rearing.
The guide was designed to help prospective parents and families with young children easily and systematically find the information they need at every stage, from pregnancy through birth and into early childhood.
It brings together Seongbuk-gu's own childbirth and parenting support programs alongside national government and Seoul Metropolitan Government welfare systems, as well as information on local child-rearing support institutions.
Seongbuk-gu has been rolling out a range of childbirth and parenting support policies as part of its drive to become a place where families want to have and raise children. The guidebook organizes information step by step by life stage — from preparing for pregnancy through birth, infant and toddler health management, and parenting support — and includes QR codes for major programs linking directly to their application pages.
The guide was produced simultaneously as a print booklet and an e-book. Print copies are available at the Seongbuk-gu District Office, neighborhood community centers, public health centers, the Seongbuk-gu Family Center and other affiliated institutions across the district, while the e-book can be accessed on the Seongbuk-gu District Office website.
"Childbirth and child-rearing are not solely the responsibility of individual families — they are a challenge the whole community must support together," Seongbuk-gu District Chief Lee Seung-ro said. "We will continue to push forward with childbirth and parenting support policies that residents can truly feel, and do our utmost to make Seongbuk a place where people want to have and raise children."
