Gangbuk-gu Opens Free 1-on-1 College Admissions Counseling for 2027 Applicants!

Seoul's Gangbuk-gu district is recruiting participants for its "2027 Early-Admissions Career and College Counseling" program, which helps college-bound students prepare for university entrance exams by providing personalized application strategies tailored to each student's grades and career goals.

The counseling sessions will be held Aug. 8 and 9, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the main lecture hall of the Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance Training Center. A total of 180 student-parent pairs preparing for the 2027 university entrance cycle are eligible to participate.

Current teachers affiliated with the College Admissions Guidance Support Team of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education's Education Research and Information Institute will conduct the sessions. Each participant will receive a 50-minute, one-on-one consultation based on individual academic records, including mock exam scores and school grades.

Participation is free. Registration opens Monday at 10 a.m. through the integrated reservation system on the Gangbuk-gu district office website (Integrated Reservation → District Participation/Public Programs → Early Admissions Program), on a first-come, first-served basis. After the initial slots are filled, the district will maintain a waitlist and offer spots to waitlisted applicants as vacancies arise.

"Because early-admissions strategies vary greatly depending on each student's grades, extracurricular activities and career aspirations, personalized consultations with expert teachers are extremely important," Gangbuk-gu District Mayor Jeong Chang-su said. "I hope these sessions provide real, practical help to students and parents as they map out the admissions strategy that is right for them."
