Man in his 50s arrested for paying teenager 200,000 won for sex after meeting on chat app

A man in his 50s has been arrested after paying a teenage girl for sex following a meeting arranged through a chat app.

The Suwon Yeongtong Police Station said Wednesday it is investigating the man, identified only as A, on charges of violating the Act on the Punishment of Arrangement of Commercial Sex Acts.

A is accused of paying the girl, identified as B, for sex near a lodging establishment in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, at around 2:27 a.m. Wednesday.

The two had met through a chat app, and A is believed to have paid around 200,000 won ($145) for the encounter.

Police took A into custody after receiving a report, bringing him in voluntarily for questioning.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances of the case.
