Halla Cement and Asia Cement will donate all cement and dry mortar needed for Habitat Korea's "Hope Home Building" project this year.
Habitat Korea is a nonprofit that builds homes and improves living conditions for people in substandard housing. Halla became the first company in South Korea's cement industry to donate its entire cement supply to the project, starting in 2001. Its parent company, Asia Cement, joined the effort in 2018.
The two companies announced Wednesday they had signed a material support agreement with Habitat Korea for 2026.
Beyond material donations, both companies have sent employee volunteers to construction sites. They plan to join building activities at the Hope Home Building site in Chuncheon in August. The companies also received certificates of appreciation in recognition of 25 years of continued support.
"As building materials companies, we find meaning in being able to contribute to improving living conditions for vulnerable groups," the two companies said in a joint statement. "We will continue a range of social contribution activities that fulfill our corporate social responsibility."
