Gyeongju City Council completes first-half organization of 10th assembly

The Gyeongju City Council in North Gyeongsang Province announced Wednesday that it has completed the first-half organizational setup of the 10th assembly, electing standing committee members and chairs at the second plenary session of the 298th extraordinary session.

The 10th Gyeongju City Council comprises 22 members, one more than the 9th assembly.

To accommodate the additional seat, the Economic Industry Committee was expanded by one member, bringing the Administrative Welfare Committee, the Culture and City Committee and the Economic Industry Committee each to seven members. The special committee retains its existing nine-member structure.

On the Council Operations Committee, Park Jong-woo was elected chair and Park Ji-woo vice chair, with lawmakers Kim Sang-hee, Kim Yeong-cheol, Lee Gang-hee, Kim Dong-su and Son Yun-hee serving as members.

On the Administrative Welfare Committee, Lee Kyong-hee was named chair and Kim Sang-hee vice chair, with lawmakers Choe Jin-yeol, Bang Hyeon-woo, Kim Tae-su, Park Ji-woo and Ju Mi serving as members.

On the Culture and City Committee, Park Gwang-ho was elected chair and Kim Yeong-cheol vice chair, with lawmakers Nam U-mo, Kim Yeong-u, Kim Gyeong-ju, Kim Dong-hae and Park Jong-woo named as members.

On the Economic Industry Committee, Ju Dong-yeol was named chair and Son Yun-hee vice chair, with lawmakers Kim Yong-gwan, Choe Jae-pil, Lee Gang-hee, Lee Seong-nak and Kim Dong-su serving as members.

Earlier, on Monday, the council had elected Speaker Im Hwal and Deputy Speaker Choe Jae-pil along with the rest of the first-half leadership before finalizing the standing committee composition, completing the full first-half organizational setup of the 10th assembly.

"We will do our utmost to carefully look after the lives of citizens through communication and cooperation, and to provide checks and alternatives for the development of Gyeongju," Speaker Im said.
