North Gyeongsang Health College held a nursing competency training program for 19 newly hired nurses from Gimcheon First Hospital on Wednesday at the college's Florence Hall.
The program, titled "2026 New Nurse Clinical Competency Enhancement — Infection Control, Core Nursing Skills, Safe Nursing and Patient SBAR Communication," combined lectures with hands-on practice. Topics included blood diagnostic testing and basic pharmacology, infection control, core nursing skills simulation for patient safety, clinical reasoning based on real case studies, and SBAR-based communication exercises among medical staff.
A simulation component designed to mirror actual hospital conditions gave participants direct exposure to a range of scenarios they are likely to encounter on the job. The sessions aimed to build both safe nursing practice and effective communication skills among clinical teams.
"We will continue to work with regional medical institutions to expand practice-centered education that can be applied immediately in clinical settings, and we will do our utmost to develop skilled nursing professionals who take responsibility for patient safety," college President Lee Eun-jik said.
