Gyeongil University's ReON volunteers support wildfire recovery in Uiseong-gun

The ReON volunteer corps of Gyeongil University ran a community recovery program for wildfire-affected residents in Bian-myeon, Uiseong-gun on Saturday, as part of an event called "Find It! Uiseong Happy Village."

The event brought together multiple volunteer groups alongside the ReON corps, including the Uiseong-gun Talent-Sharing Professional Volunteer Corps, the Ihyeol Volunteer Corps, Uiseong Photo Studio, the Uiseong Family Volunteer Corps, the Korean Cosmetologists Association Uiseong-gun chapter, Daegyeong University, the Anpyeong-myeon Women's Volunteer Association, the Bian-myeon Women's Volunteer Association and the Emergency Disaster Guardian Volunteer Corps.

Gyeongil University was represented by students from the Department of Beauty Style and the Department of Sports Welfare, along with faculty advisers and project staff.

The beauty style students offered nail art and hand massage services as part of a self-care program for residents. Sports welfare students led participatory activities including tuho, a traditional Korean ring-toss game, and hoop throwing.

Lee Hee-jun, director of the ReON project, said he hopes the corps' work will help residents rebuild their resilience and serve as a model for strengthening ties between the university and the local community. "We will continue to pursue community-centered volunteer activities that meet the everyday needs of local residents," he said.
