E-mart said it will offer discounts of up to 50 percent on health foods — including freshwater eel, live abalone and young chicken — through Wednesday, the day of Chobok, the first of the three hottest days of the Korean lunar calendar.
The "antibiotic-free two-pack young chicken (domestic)" will be available at 40 percent off for 7,128 won with a promotional card payment. "Native chicken for baeksuk" will also be on sale at 10,980 won — a 5,000-won discount — for customers who accumulate Shinsegae Points.
Live abalone from Wando, raised on seaweed in a program run jointly with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, will be half price with Shinsegae Points. A box of cleaned freshwater eel (700 grams, domestic) will also be sold at half its regular price of 54,000 won, for 27,000 won.
E-mart has also stocked a range of ready-to-cook options, including mung bean samgyetang, oak mushroom baeksuk and nurungji samgyetang.
