Ex-lawmaker Min Kyung-wook collapses during election-fraud lecture, diagnosed with cerebral hemorrhage

Former lawmaker Min Kyung-wook lost consciousness and collapsed during an election-fraud lecture Tuesday afternoon, received CPR at the scene and was rushed to a hospital. Tests confirmed a cerebral hemorrhage, and he underwent surgery.

Min, 63, a former Saenuri Party member, collapsed while delivering a lecture on alleged election fraud Tuesday afternoon and was transported to a hospital by emergency services after receiving CPR.

Kim Sang-hyun, a senior official of the Liberty and Innovation Party and head of the tteokbokki franchise Gukdae Tteokbokki, said on his Facebook page that Min had been speaking at the 11th Gosin Patriotic Leaders Alliance Seoul Forum, which began at 2 p.m. Tuesday, when he suddenly lost consciousness around 5:30 p.m. and was taken to the emergency room of a Seoul hospital.

Kim said two Liberty and Innovation Party officials were present at the scene and relayed the news to him directly. "We have informed his family of the situation," he added. "Please pray for former lawmaker Min's recovery."

According to Ko Myung-gil, chief expert committee chair of the Gosin Patriotic Leaders Alliance, Min was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage and underwent surgery but remains unconscious.

Min had appeared as a speaker at the 11th Gosin Patriotic Leaders Alliance Seoul Forum, held at the Korea Christian Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The event was the final stop in a nationwide regional seminar series that had previously visited Busan, Daegu, Changwon and Jecheon.

Min was delivering a lecture titled "Election Fraud and the Calling of Christians," sharing his views on the June 3 local elections, when he suddenly showed signs of distress during a question-and-answer session with attendees and collapsed behind the podium.
