GS Group announced Wednesday that its AI risk assessment solution "AIR" won two prizes at the 2026 Red Dot Design Award in the brand and communication design category.
The two winning categories were interface and user experience design and digital solutions.
The Red Dot Design Award is an international design prize organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany. It recognizes outstanding design each year across three categories: product design, brand and communication design, and design concept. The brand and communication design category evaluates entries on originality and creativity of ideas, design quality and innovation, and understanding of users.
AIR originated from an idea proposed by a safety team employee at GS Power at the 2024 GS Group hackathon. When a user enters a task name and a brief description, the solution uses generative AI to analyze the work process and automatically produces potential risk factors, risk ratings and preventive safety measures. It reduces assessment inconsistencies caused by differences in individual experience and skill level, while cutting risk assessment time — a process that previously took considerable time — to within five minutes.
GS provides AIR free of charge to small and medium-sized enterprises. The aim is to help smaller workplaces that lack dedicated safety management personnel and digital transformation capabilities build more systematic safety management systems using AI. Some 250 companies are currently using AIR.
"The award reflects how faithfully we incorporated the actual work patterns and needs of real users into the design," a GS official said. "GS will continue working to solve real problems in the field and create greater value."
