Hoban Group announced Wednesday that it held an in-house running challenge aimed at promoting employee health and fostering a vibrant workplace culture. The program, called the "Hoban Run" challenge, had participants use indoor treadmills to cumulatively cover 42.195 kilometers — the full marathon distance.
The challenge was open to all employees across the group's affiliates, including Hoban Construction, Hoban Industrial and Taihan Cable & Solution. It was held at the fitness center on the second floor of Hoban Group's headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
Participants logged their daily treadmill distances, with totals accumulating over time toward the full marathon mark of 42.195 kilometers.
Hoban Group offered incentives to encourage participation. All finishers received a completion award consisting of a small gift and a medal, and select finishers were entered into a draw for special prizes including running shoes and wireless earphones.
The group runs a range of voluntary welfare and health programs to support a healthy work environment. Beyond physical fitness initiatives, it also operates an anonymous counseling program to help employees deal with psychological challenges such as job stress and interpersonal difficulties.
"The Hoban Run was designed to help employees build healthy lifestyle habits, set personal goals and experience a sense of achievement," a Hoban Group official said. "We plan to continue expanding a variety of employee participation programs to foster a healthy work environment and a vibrant organizational culture."
