Inje Speedium — built in the hope of producing a Korean motorsport hero — will be transformed Saturday into a showcase of world-class racing, supercar spectacle and Lamborghini-powered thrills.
The 2026 Gangwon International Motor Festa, a global festival blending motorsport with live performances and camping, opens its gates this weekend. Much like the "Inje Sinnam" road sign that greets drivers on the way into Inje — sinnam meaning excitement in Korean — the day promises to be a lively one.
This year's edition expands its cultural programming — music, performances and camping — alongside top-tier racing, positioning the festival as a summer destination event for families, couples and friends alike.
The centerpiece is the 2026 O-NE Super Race Championship, South Korea's premier motorsport series.
Top domestic and international drivers will compete in a night race format, navigating Inje Speedium's distinctive elevation changes in the dark — a combination organizers expect will deliver a gripping spectacle for motorsport fans.
Also on the program this year is the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia, a globally recognized one-make race series. The Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 cars, slicing through the night with thunderous exhaust notes and commanding performance, are expected to be one of the standout attractions of the weekend.
The excitement extends beyond the circuit. Drift drivers Park Si-hyeon and Lee Sang-hwa, both active on the international drift scene, will perform a drift show run — sliding their vehicles through corners in a display of precise car control, tire smoke and dynamic movement that offers a different kind of thrill from conventional racing.
After dark, the venue shifts into full festival mode with an EDM party featuring domestic DJs and a fireworks display. Music, lighting, the heat of the night race and fireworks overhead will turn Inje Speedium into one vast outdoor performance space.
An overnight camping zone will let visitors combine motorsport and the outdoors in a single trip. During the day, guests can watch races and performances at the circuit; at night, they can camp and take in Inje's natural surroundings. Organizers expect the event to offer something beyond spectator sport — a summer getaway that blends racing, lodging and leisure.
Shuttle buses will run to improve access for out-of-town visitors. Departures from Seoul will leave from Hoehyeon, Sadang and Sports Complex stations, while routes connecting Sokcho, Wonju and Chuncheon intercity bus terminals to Inje Speedium will serve visitors from Gangwon Province. Schedules, boarding locations and reservation details are available through NOL Ticket, the official ticketing platform.
The Gangwon International Motor Festa has been held since 2018, contributing to the popularization of motorsport and the promotion of regional tourism.
Lee Myeong-gyu, head of the tourism division at Inje-gun, said the event was designed to be accessible to everyone, not just motorsport enthusiasts. "You can enjoy professional car racing alongside drift performances, music, fireworks and camping all in one place," he said. "We hope visitors will come to Inje Speedium with their families, partners and friends to create special midsummer night memories."
