Byun Jung-soo credits ChatGPT for stock gains, reinvests profits from SK Hynix shares

Former model and broadcaster Byun Jung-soo said she started investing in shares after discovering ChatGPT — and has already turned a profit.

A video titled "Finally all together!! A Bangkok travel vlog of actresses reunited after a year — and their swimsuit looks" was posted Wednesday on the YouTube channel "Bolbbalgan Nyonnyon Nyon."

In the video, Byun traveled to Bangkok, Thailand, with fellow actresses Bae Jong-ok and Yoon Hyun-sook for the first time in a year. The three decided to kick off their trip with a visit to a secondhand luxury goods store.

While on the way there, Byun searched for a shopping list, prompting Yoon to suggest, "Should we ask ChatGPT? It surprisingly gives great answers. It's incredible."

Byun said ChatGPT was what got her into shares. "I started because of it," she said. "Like a little knowledge being a dangerous thing, I began buying one share, two shares at a time starting last September."

When Bae asked whether her investments had gone up much, Byun said they had. "I've already pulled out my principal, and now I'm reinvesting only with the profits," she said, drawing surprised reactions from the others.

Byun named SK Hynix as one of her holdings, saying the share price had reached 2.7 million won ($1,810) at the time of filming. She added that she had bought in at around 1.75 million won per share, prompting Bae to exclaim, "That's nearly doubled."
