Cortiz member Geonho fractures both hands ahead of debut tour

Geonho, a member of the group Cortiz, has suffered fractures in both hands just ahead of the group's debut tour — but has expressed his determination to take the stage regardless.

Big Hit Music, his agency, said Wednesday on the fan platform Weverse that Geonho had recently fallen and landed on his hands incorrectly, prompting a hospital visit. Detailed examinations confirmed fractures near the little fingers of both hands, the agency said. The necessary treatment was promptly administered and he is currently recovering.

Medical staff advised that he wear casts and braces for now to aid recovery and minimize strenuous upper-body movement, the agency said.

"Geonho has a very strong desire to participate in the scheduled tour and other commitments, but we plan to prioritize the medical team's guidance and his recovery above all else, managing future schedules flexibly," Big Hit Music said.

As a result, Geonho will perform without choreography at the opening dates of the debut tour "PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN," set for Saturday and Sunday at Inspire Arena in Incheon. Rather than taking his place in the dance formations, he will remain on stage in a capacity that minimizes upper-body movement.

Big Hit Music said participation arrangements for upcoming festivals and other scheduled events would also be adjusted in close consultation with medical staff, to the extent that they do not strain the injured areas.

On Weverse, Geonho apologized for causing concern. "You must have been very surprised by the injury, and I am sorry for the worry," he said. "I will take responsibility and work hard on my treatment so I can return in good health as soon as possible."
