Im Young-woong concert ticket war kicks off Thursday, with scalpers charging up to W5m

Ticket sales for singer Im Young-woong's upcoming concert open Thursday.

NOL Ticket, a concert ticketing platform, will begin selling seats for Im's "IM HERO — THE STADIUM 2" at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Buyers may purchase up to two tickets per person, with prices ranging from 165,000 won to 198,000 won ($133).

Securing a ticket to an Im Young-woong concert — whose fanbase skews heavily toward older audiences — has become so difficult that fans describe the process as a "war."

Each year, hundreds of thousands of fans flood the ticketing website simultaneously, leaving vast numbers unable to connect, while shows routinely sell out the moment sales open.

Scalpers have been known to use automated bots to snap up tickets and resell them for as much as 5 million won — nearly 30 times the face value.

Im's upcoming concert will be held at the main stadium of Goyang Sports Complex for three days starting Sept. 4.

Im rose to fame after winning the trot music talent show "Mr. Trot," which aired in 2020. He has since released a string of hits, including "Trust Me" and "Love Always Runs Away," and remains active in the industry. He is currently appearing on SBS's "Sangol Chonggak Yeong-ung," a variety program where he shows viewers a warmer, more casual side of himself away from the concert stage.
