KT&G Welfare Foundation sends 80 student volunteers to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan

The KT&G Welfare Foundation said it has sent 80 college student volunteers from its overseas service corps, Sangsang With Us, to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, where they will conduct service activities through July 26.

Sangsang With Us is a college student overseas volunteer program the KT&G Welfare Foundation has operated since 2005. Over 60 deployments, it has sent more than 2,000 volunteers to countries including Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia and Vietnam.

This year's volunteers conducted activities at Kokozek Public School in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and Nurabshan School No. 1 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. They ran education programs for local elementary school students, offered hands-on experiences in traditional Korean culture and staged K-pop performances. The group is also working to improve school facilities — painting buildings, resurfacing gymnasium floors and creating murals.

"We will continue to carry out a wide range of social contribution activities to provide meaningful support to communities in need," a KT&G Welfare Foundation official said.
