Daegu University signs AI, software industry-academia agreements with 20 companies

Daegu University's Software-Centered University Project Group held its "2026 Industry-Academia Cooperation Project Showcase and Signing Ceremony" Monday at the Sky Lounge on the 17th floor of Sungsan Hall on campus, aimed at accelerating AI and software adoption in regional industries and nurturing field-ready talent.

The event drew about 70 attendees, including Daegu University President Yoon Jae-woong, Software-Centered University Project Group Director Yu Jun-hyeok, North Gyeongsang Province officials, representatives of participating companies and faculty supervisors.

Representatives from the 20 companies taking part in the 2026 program joined 20 faculty supervisors to discuss ways to connect real-world business challenges with the university's education and research capabilities.

The ceremony featured a keynote on corporate support policy, followed by the signing of new industry-academia cooperation project agreements for 2026.

"The industry-academia cooperation project is a prime example of field-centered education, giving students the opportunity to apply the AI and software skills they learn in the classroom to real business environments," Yu said.

President Yoon said Wednesday's signing ceremony was "more than a moment for the university and companies to reaffirm their commitment to cooperation — it is a meaningful starting point for solving real problems facing regional industries together through the university's education and research capabilities, and for cultivating the AI and software talent of the future."
