Graduates placed at Posco, Kia, Hyundai Steel and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power
The Korea Polytechnics Suncheon campus has earned an S rating — the highest possible — in the 2025 national Korea Polytechnics evaluation, cementing its standing as the leading public vocational education institution in eastern South Jeolla Province, campus President Kim Seong-jae announced.
The top rating is closely tied to job creation in the region. The campus drew high marks for proactively restructuring its departments and pursuing specialization in line with industrial trends at the Yeosu petrochemical complex and the Gwangyang steel national industrial complex.
Despite a downturn at the Yeosu petrochemical complex and a difficult youth job market, graduates achieved an employment rate of 81.7% — a key quantitative indicator behind the S rating. The campus credited the result to the introduction of field-evaluation-based qualifications across all departments, a curriculum centered on hands-on practical training, and systematic student management.
Graduates have secured positions at major corporations in eastern South Jeolla Province, including Posco in Gwangyang, Kia, the Hyundai Steel Suncheon factory and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, demonstrating the competitive edge of Korea Polytechnics' practice-oriented education.
"We will continue to develop skilled, field-ready technical talent to contribute to regional industrial growth and youth employment," a campus official said.
