A woman in her 60s went missing while catching freshwater snails in a valley in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, and was found dead about an hour later, prompting a police investigation.
According to Yonhap, a report came in at around 2:26 a.m. Sunday that the woman, identified only as A, had gone missing at Noksu Valley in Sangmyeon, Gapyeong-gun.
Firefighters dispatched to the scene launched a search operation and found her at around 3:24 a.m.
She was dead when discovered.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident based on statements from people near the scene who said A had gone missing while catching freshwater snails.
