Cheon Gwang took first place at the 6th National Youth Street Dance Battle — "Move Up! Vol. 6" — while Honeypop Riminchai finished as runner-up and Sku and TRIAD claimed the best-four spots. Dong-gu Mayor Cheon Gi-ok presented the awards.
Hosted by Ulsan's Dong-gu and organized by the Ulsan Dong-gu Youth Center, the competition was held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the outdoor stage of Ilsan Beach in Dong-gu, Ulsan. More than 150 dancers aged 9 to 24, representing 47 teams from 24 regions across the country, took part.
JERRY served as MC and MARCIA as DJ, with judging handled by TORCH, SOUL_K and KIMIL.
Lee Mi-yeong, director of the Ulsan Dong-gu Youth Center, said this year's competition added house as a new genre to reflect shifting trends in street dance culture, and brought together locking, hip-hop, krump and other styles under one roof. "It became a cultural festival where young people could enjoy all of youth street dance in one place," she said.
