Daegu appoints former Yeungnam University student council president as youth special adviser

Daegu has appointed Park Seong-min, 33, as its youth special adviser, a newly created position reporting directly to the mayor under the ninth elected city administration.

The youth special adviser will translate the needs of the younger generation into municipal policy, covering youth job creation, local settlement support and improvements to youth culture and welfare, the city said Monday.

Park was selected through an open recruitment process. He previously served as student council president at Yeungnam University and has held positions including deputy director of the Youth Policy Center at the Yeouido Institute and chair of the Youth Special Committee under the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development.

He also built expertise in youth-related legislation and policy as a senior secretary to a National Assembly member.

"Through the youth special adviser, we will directly reflect voices from the field in city administration and make Daegu a city where young people can design their own futures and take on new challenges," Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho said.
