Kwak Eun-hee takes office as Uiseong-gun deputy county chief, pledges field-centered governance

Uiseong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province announced Monday that Kwak Eun-hee, 56, had begun her first day as deputy county chief, starting with a certificate-of-appointment ceremony before visiting local institutions including the Uiseong Branch of the Daegu District Court. Her appointment followed a personnel order from North Gyeongsang Province.

A native of Seongju-gun in North Gyeongsang Province, Kwak graduated from Gyeongil Girls' High School and Yeungnam University's Department of Microbiology before entering public service at Seongju-gun in 1992.

She transferred to the North Gyeongsang Provincial Government in 2006 and served across a range of key departments, including the Planning and Coordination Headquarters, the Jobs and Economy Headquarters, the Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau, the Women and Family Policy Office, and the Welfare and Health Bureau.

Her senior roles included chief of the autonomous police general affairs division at the North Gyeongsang Autonomous Police Commission in 2023 and chief of the enterprise support division at the provincial economy and trade bureau in 2025.

In her inaugural remarks, Kwak said she would "draw on the administrative experience and networks built up over the years at the North Gyeongsang Provincial Government to push forward Uiseong-gun's key pending projects without disruption, and pursue a field-centered, approachable style of governance that keeps open lines of communication with residents."
