Seoul's Seocho-gu will host the "2027 High School Admissions Success Strategy Briefing" on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Art Hall of Seocho Culture and Arts Center, targeting 600 students and parents preparing for high school enrollment, district Mayor Jeon Seong-su announced.
The briefing was organized to give students and parents in the district a clear high school admissions roadmap. Anxiety has grown ahead of sweeping reforms to the college entrance system, including the full rollout of the high school credit system, a shift to a five-tier internal grading scale, and the introduction of a unified college entrance exam with no elective subjects.
The featured speaker is Yoon Yeo-jeong, a top admissions consultant based in Daechi-dong and director of Yoon & Go admissions consulting, who runs the YouTube channel "Univclass" with 500,000 subscribers.
Yoon will deliver practical, tailored guidance on three topics: an analysis of the admissions landscape following the 2028 college entrance reform; criteria for choosing the right high school for each student under the high school credit system and five-tier grading regime; and key action strategies for the unified college entrance exam and revised national curriculum.
Registration opens Aug. 20 and runs through Sept. 3 on a first-come, first-served basis through the Seocho-gu Education Support Center website. For further details, prospective attendees may contact the Bangbae Education Support Center, which is organizing the event.
Ahead of this briefing, the district provided one-on-one, subject-specific academic consulting to 100 middle school students on July 24 and 25 during the summer vacation. Professional consultants offered pre-assessments in core subjects including Korean, English and mathematics, followed by in-person one-on-one sessions and online feedback in August, building students' foundational academic skills. The district said it plans to further strengthen its close-support education system — one that integrates academic development and school placement guidance — through this high school admissions briefing.
