Hanwha Solutions' Wire & Cable division is accelerating the commercialization of an eco-friendly power cable material.
Hanwha Solutions said Tuesday it has completed customer validation of CHBA-8241RC, a high-density polyethylene-based power cable jacket material incorporating 50 percent post-consumer recycled plastic, and is moving forward with commercialization.
CHBA-8241RC is an eco-friendly compound developed in-house by Hanwha Solutions. It produces about 34 percent less carbon per kilogram than conventional products while delivering equivalent electrical properties, allowing cable manufacturers to produce environmentally friendly power cables without sacrificing performance.
Hanwha Solutions developed and ran pilot production of CHBA-8241RC in 2025, then completed production testing and quality verification with cable manufacturers in the first half of this year. The company said it now holds a portfolio spanning ultra-high-voltage insulation materials to eco-friendly cable jacket compounds, and plans to contribute to the buildout of low-carbon power grids.

"We will support our customers' sustainable power cable production and establish ourselves as a trusted material partner in the global power infrastructure market," he said.
Meanwhile, the development and launch of the eco-friendly jacket EMC draws on Hanwha Solutions' accumulated expertise in waste plastic recycling technology and commercialization. The company has obtained global eco-certifications for its recycled polyethylene and has expanded its application across industries through partnerships with LG Display and Kolmar Korea Holdings, among others.
