'Now I know what my dad does' — Daewoo Engineering hosts employee family event

Daewoo Engineering held its 2026 Dream Tree family invitation event over two days starting Aug. 6, targeting children of employees on their summer school break, the company announced Tuesday.

The event, which Daewoo Engineering has run since 2004, marked its 20th edition this year. Open to children in grades four through six of elementary school, it gave priority to children of employees working at domestic and overseas project sites — staff who find it difficult to spend vacation time with their families due to the nature of the construction business.

A total of 80 children attended, touring the company's headquarters in Euljiro, where they learned about their parents' workplace and jobs and deepened their understanding of the construction industry. They then moved to Summit Gallery for a docent-led tour of Daewoo Engineering's residential products and architectural culture. At the company's human resources center in Suwon, the children took part in a range of programs including a mini Olympics, recreational activities and a talent show.

Lee A-hyeon, a fourth-grader who attended the event, said she had previously known the company only through its Prugio and Summit brands. "I learned that Daewoo Engineering builds not just in Korea but also overseas — buildings, roads, plants and more," she said. "My dad looked even cooler to me, and I think I'll be able to tell my friends all about what kind of company Daewoo Engineering is."

A company official said the event was organized so that employees' children could experience their parents' workplace up close and spend meaningful time together as a family during the summer break. "We hope this was a chance for children who had always been curious about where and what their parents do to learn about the company and the construction industry in a natural way, and for families to make happy memories together," the official said.
